Biosciences - Projects and Resources Team
The Projects and Resources technical team of the Biosciences subject area supports a wide range of practical activities for the faculty of Health and Wellbeing. The team's main duties include the provision of high level specialist support to under and post graduate project students, logistical support for the site's laboratory operations and regular support for the wide range of practical classes covered by the Teaching and Learning team.
The team is also responsible for provision of the Biosciences procurement service including ordering and receipting of external items and provision of an internal stores service.
We are appointing a supervisory manager for the team, who will be responsible for organising the team workload and its utilisation of specialist accommodation, ensuring effective delivery of research project sessions, operational management of provision of technical support for the Biomedical Research centre and ensuring that positive customer focussed outcomes are achieved. Other duties will include supporting team members as they develop the necessary skill sets for quality delivery, implementation and maintenance of Health & Safety and operational systems, provision of regular reports to the Technical Team Leader and exploring ways of further increasing the team’s involvement in learning, teaching and assessment (LTA) activities.
You will have experience of supervisory management combined with substantial practical experience in some of the disciplines that the team supports; ranging from Cell Biology and Molecular Biology to Biochemistry and Analytical Chemistry. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to manage the workload of the team in a rapidly changing environment are essential.
The person offered this post will be subject to a standard criminal records check by the Criminal Records Bureau. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
