Job Description
Sheffield Springs Academy is part of United Learning Trust, which is working at the leading-edge of the government’s Academy programme, helping to positively transform secondary education in challenging urban areas by providing Academies that energise, enhance and improve the lives of children.
Sheffield Springs Academy opened in 2006, moving to new £30m state-of-the-art facilities in February 2008 and boasts a complementary and collaborative Sixth Form.
Sheffield Springs Academy are currently looking to recruit a temporary ICT Services Officer
The ICT Services Officer, under the direction of ICT Services Manager will be expected to implement new systems, monitor manage and assess network efficiency.
General duties and responsibilities
€¢ Produce, configure, install and test new hardware and software systems
€¢ Monitor, diagnose and repair breakdown of hardware and software
€¢ Assess breakdown of equipment and if necessary escalate to service level agreement and warranty
€¢ Ensure security, licensing and data protection policies are implemented
€¢ Back up, validate and restore systems and data
€¢ In consultation with ICT Services Manager to test new systems and make recommendations to SLT
€¢ Provide first level help desk to users
€¢ Provide technical advice to senior management and teachers
€¢ Provide assistance and advice to teachers to facilitate the effective use of ICT in the classroom including providing classroom support where necessary.
Relevant Skills and Qualifications
€¢ Excellent ICT skills and knowledge
€¢ Relevant qualification or previous experience in a similar role
€¢ Excellent communication skills
€¢ Ability to use own initiative
€¢ Good interpersonal skills
€¢ Ability to work effectively as an individual and part of a team
€¢ Previous experience of working within an education setting would be advantageous
This post is temporary for one year to start 01 September 2010.
The vacancy is full time, 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (5 weeks holiday + 8 statutory days)
The salary for this post is £16,135 per annum.
