Job Description

Operational Manager 37hrs per week + additional ‘on call’ hours £15.00 - £18.00 per hour Sheffield, South Yorkshire Hays Social Care are currently looking to recruit an Operational Manager for an organisation who provide support to young people aged 16-25 years, who are leaving care or at risk of homelessness in the Sheffield area. The ideal candidate will have experience leading and co-ordinating a team of support staff within a social care setting. Roles and responsibilities include:

• Assisting the Project Manager in the provision of high professional standards in accordance with good social care and housing management practice, regulatory and legislative requirements and organisation policies and values
• Line management of Support and Development Workers
• Responsible for operational results within the team and exercise
• Responsible for the effective management of day to day operational activities
• To ensure aims, objectives and targets of the service are achieved and contractual obligations are met and where appropriate delivered in partnership with other providers, commissioner and stakeholders
• To manage the provision of support and housing service by the staff team
• Line management, supervision, annual appraisal of the support and development of staff team, students, volunteers and maintain adequate records in accordance with policy and procedures
• To facilitate access to training and personal development opportunities appropriate to the identified needs of the staff team
• To monitor and manage performance in line with organisation guidelines and external requirements and promote continuous improvement in service delivery, taking the lead where required

Experience and Qualification

• Previous experience leading and co-ordinating a team of staff within a social care setting
• NVQ Level 3 or above in a social care related subject is desirable but not essential
• Previous experience working directly with young people is also desirable
