Job Description

Our client is an established and industry respected law firm, based in West Yorkshire, who specialise in all areas of Claimant Personal Injury including Clinical / Medical Negligence, Industrial Disease, EL, PL and RTA. They are looking for an experienced Clinical Negligence Fee Earner. 

You will become an integral part of the Clinical Negligence Team, they seek an individual who has experience of dealing with clinical negligence litigation and ideally has an interest in public law. This is an excellent opportunity with the potential for the right candidate to build up their own caseload.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a supportive and collegiate team environment. The workload will involve working on your own files under supervision as well as working on files with more senior members of the team.

Duties Include:

  • Taking formal instructions from new clients;
  • Managing own caseload from first instruction through Pre-Action Protocol and all relevant steps in the litigation until settlement or disposal;
  • Dealing with funding issues, including Public Funding Applications, monitoring of fees, liaising with before-the-event insurers and entering into CFAs with clients and Counsel;
  • Instructing medical experts and Counsel;
  • Assisting more senior fee-earners with complex, high value claims;
  • Preparation for Inquests, including instructing experts and Counsel and attending Inquests where relevant;
  • Taking initial telephone and website enquiries;
  • Contacting clients and taking initial information;
  • Liaising with senior fee-earners and undertaking initial investigations from new enquiries;
  • Assisting senior solicitors on catastrophic injury cases and/or multi-client cases;
  • Business development including updating website information, case reports and articles;
  • The candidate may also have the opportunity to develop a niche area of expertise should they wish to do so.

You must be a well-rounded experience and strong academics and have a genuine interest and previous experience of working in clinical negligence and possibly public law practice areas will be a key requirement for the role. Personal injury experience would also be helpful.

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
