Job Description

Our client, a national engineering organisation based in the Sheffield area, is now looking to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team! 

The successful candidate will have a STRONG MECHANICAL ENGINEERING BACKGROUND and will have worked in a similar role previously.

To provide Contract support, advice and clarification to the Project Management department and other associated departments during project execution phase.

The Contract Manager is responsible for the following key activities:

  1. Providing Contract support, advice and clarification to the project management team and associated departments during project execution phase.
  2. To carry out Contract and Process Audits to ensure contract compliance, highlighting areas of non compliance with associated action and recovery solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and guidance to the Project Management department by providing high quality contractual advice when required based on an accurate interpretation of contract documents and business knowledge. 
  • Reviewing contracts and agreements in accordance with the Clients risk parameters. 
  • Ensure that signed contracts are communicated to all relevant parties to provide contract visibility, awareness and interpretation. 
  • Contract advice and guidance in connection with the preparation of MOCs and the VOs submitted for customer approval.
  • Provide along with Project Management and Legal representation, redlined recommendations and often negotiate directly with Customers until consensus has been reached. 
  • Help develop and understand risk mitigation strategies for contractual risks. 
  • Provide and/ or facilitate contract training for the Project Management department.
  • Conduct regular audits of Project teams to assess compliance in certain key areas. 
  • Develop and implement procedures for Contract Management and administration in compliance with company policy. 
  • As appropriate, contribute to or influence company policies. 
  • Monitor compliance by company employees with established procedures and give appropriate guidance to ensure compliance. 
  • Establish and ensure that appropriate control and maintenance of contractual records and documentation is adhered to.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,Ability to multi-task and proactively manage internal and external priorities
  • Ability to identify and help mitigate risks and issues 

Knowledge Required: 

  • Good understanding of contract and commercial law (both from a customer and a supplier perspective)
  • Ability to keep abreast of contract developments affecting the business 
  • PC skills 
  • Business sector Knowledge of the Engineering and Manufacturing sectors desirable, but not essential
