Hours – 37 per week for 52 weeks
Rate – Scale 2/3 £13,336 to £16,217 (Pay Award pending)

Job Description As a result of a recent restructure the school is looking to form a new technical support team. This new post represents an excellent opportunity as the school is in the process of undertaking a number of exciting IT development projects to support its IT specialist status. It is planned these improvements to our IT infrastructure and facilities will result in a significant investment in future IT provision for students.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and ambitious individual to assist our IT team in providing a quality IT support service to students and staff. You must have a keen interest in computing, be looking to learn and develop your skills, have a good presentable manner and the ability to problem solve. POST TITLE ICT TECHNICIAN
GRADE SCALE 2:3
RESPONSIBLE TO THE ICT SERVICES STRATEGIC MANAGER
PURPOSE OF JOB TO PROVIDE A RANGE OF TECHNICAL AND GENERAL SUPPORT TO SUPPORT THE EFFICIENT USE OF ICT AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL
JOB DESCRIPTION & SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. MAINTENANCE OF THE SCHOOL ICT NETWORK FACILITIES
Contribute to the provision of ICT Support throughout the school under the direction of the ICT Services Strategic Manager.
Install and troubleshoot ICT hardware and software.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of the school Learning platform.
Undertake maintenance of ICT hardware.
2. ASSISTANCE TO STAFF AND STUDENTS USING ICT.
Setting up of equipment for the delivery of the curriculum.
Provide help and support to staff and pupils in the use of ICT.
Reset user passwords and printer credits.
Ensure all ICT equipment in the computer rooms and shared areas are checked at the beginning and end of the school day to ensure they are operational, tidy and stocked up ready for use.
Provide classroom support when required for example in assisting with the use of peripherals or new software.
3. SERVICE DESK SUPPORT
Utilise the Help Desk system to ensure that requests for work are completed in line with the department’s standards.
Problem solve and troubleshoot issues reported by users of the system, such as software, hardware and configuration issues.
Ensure record keeping of the inventory of ICT equipment and consumables.
Liaise with suppliers of the school on ICT related issues.
Problems solve and troubleshoot issues on the network such as software, hardware, configuration and user errors.
Provide a high quality of user support, working towards a high level of staff satisfaction being obtained on the ICT department survey.
Liaise with suppliers regarding the procurement of ICT products.
Install software locally and on network machines as required and to the standards set out by the IT Services Strategic Manager.
4. IT HARDWARE INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE
Install and configure new and existing IT equipment, maintaining records of work carried out.
Carry out repairs and maintenance to hardware to maximise the efficiency of equipment.
Ensure the correct procedure is carried out during the disposal of damaged and un-repairable equipment in line with current procedures.
Move equipment around the school in line with Health & Safety procedure.
5. GENERAL
As a member of the ICT Services Department you will be expected to liaise with the Strategic ICT Manager, technical support and teaching staff in an appropriate manner.
Carry out all problem solving, changes and configuration, in-line with the Framework for ICT in Schools (FITS) recommendations and guidelines under the direction of the IT Services Strategic Manager and the school’s policies and procedures.
Actively pursue training and accreditation in line with the schools needs.
Contribute to the Health and Safety of pupils and other staff in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and School Policy.
To assist with the production of an annual audit of the ICT equipment.
Research information concerning equipment for best value and advise staff on the selection of new equipment and consumables.
Produce orders for equipment and consumables after agreement with the IT Services Strategic Manager.
Take responsibility for own professional development, continually keep updated about new initiatives in educational ICT, and contribute to the school as a learning organisation.
Assist with the implementation of projects and school ICT initiatives.
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities, which do not change the character and purpose of the post as, may be determined after negotiations between management, the post holder and the appropriate trade union.
