    Our Client are a leading College through out Sheffield who are currently looking for a

    Technical IT Officer


    You will be required to have:


    Knowledge:
    Up-to-date knowledge of Windows XP
    Up-to-date Knowledge of Microsoft Office
    Knowledge of local area networks
    Some knowledge of Wide area networks, and administration of such systems

    Educational Achievements:
    Vocational or Academic qualifications
    Degree/HNC or equivalent academic/vocational qualification in computing, ICT or a subject where the use of ICT is a major component


    Skills and Abilities:
    Confident and enthusiastic user of ICT
    Ability to inspire and enthuse others in the use of ILT
    Good interpersonal skills and the ability to foster and maintain collaborative working relationships and sharing of good practice
    Ability to manage use of time effectively and deal with conflicting priorities
    Good organisation skills
    Deployment of assistive technology
    Experience:
    Experience in supporting local area networks and wide area network administration

    Personal Characteristics:
    Enthusiastic, energetic, well organised, able to work unsupervised, good communicator
    Willingness to learn about assistive technologies and their use within education

    Job Purpose

    To manage the maintenance of, and keep up-to-date the College’s IT Systems, and all associated IT, Communications and Audio-visual equipment.

    To follow Trust policies and guidelines on use, purchasing, maintenance and repair of all IT related equipment across the specific college.

    To work in conjunction with the Senior Technical Services Manager in creating a structured and coherent IT system across all Colleges, enabling cross College working and information sharing.

    The post holder is to contribute to the whole life of the College and Trust, always remembering that our core purpose is to improve the education and lives of the young people at the College.

    You will be required to carry out your duties at all College premises, some of which are located a distance from the main College sites and at such other places as the Trust may reasonably require.

    The post holder will be expected to travel on a regular basis between the Trust’s sites, and to and from other places as the Trust may reasonably require.

    Evening and weekend working will be required.

    Corporate Contribution

    The post holder will be expected to contribute as required and uphold the aims, objectives and commitments of clients Trust.

    Main Duties

    1. To ensure the College’s IT systems are available within normal working hours, and usually available outside normal working hours, as far as is reasonably possible.

    2. To ensure that all specified data on the College’s IT systems is backed up and secured regularly.

    3. To ensure College’s IT system remains free of computer viruses and other unwanted software, as far as is reasonably possible.

    4. To report to, and play an active role in the IT Committee, and be responsible for the delivery of its decisions.

    5. To liaise with the Principal and RMET Senior Technical Services Manager to identify and construct IT policies and procedures to be implemented and maintained.

    6. To consult with local management with regard to initiatives and their implementation.

    7. To create and maintain regular reports on the activities and plans of the Technical Services Service area, including, where appropriate, KPIs.

    8. To be responsible for the procurement and maintenance of all hardware, software, telephony and associated services, within the College.

    9. To ensure and record adequate technical training for all College IT staff.

    10. To ensure that the Technical Services Service area establish and maintain agreed services levels.


    12. To provide support and training to all College staff concerning the use of the College IT system and associated equipment.

    13. To arrange for the supply and repair of mobile phones for College staff.

    14. To ensure that procurement and value for money policies are adhered to.

    15. To keep all documentation, schedules, and bookings up-to-date on the administration systems that are in use.

    17. To comply with the Trust’s Manual Handling Policy and Practice.

    General

    1. To share the Trust’s commitment for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students.

    2. To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students, children and vulnerable adults that you come into contact with.

    3. To carry out the above duties in accordance with the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy.

    5. To work co-operatively with other staff within the Trust.

    6. To work with students as and when required.

    7. To comply with all the policies and procedures of the Trust as contained in the booklet for the College.

    8. To maintain exemplary standards of professionalism, honesty and respect at all times, and not abuse the privilege of access to confidential information.

    9. To be responsible for the care and development for your working area.

    10. To attend meetings and supervision as required.

    11. To undertake training and development as required by the Trust and the Academy. To pursue personal work development and take full advantage of training provided.

    12. To undertake work related professional development as required by the post.

    13. To work such hours as shall be necessary to discharge properly your duties and responsibilities outlined in this job description, which may involve working above and beyond your contacted hours of work.

    14. To undertake any other duties appropriate to this level of post which will evolve as the job progresses until the job description is reviewed.

    Staff Supervision

    The Technical Services Manager has line management and supervision responsibility for the Technical Services Officer, and may be required to line manage other designated staff.
