    As a member of the Human Resources team, work across all functions to bring specialist HR knowledge to the management team, promoting a consultative and coaching approach; with specific focus on HR KPIs, recruitment, selection and employee relations.
    Together with the Human Resources Manager create a local vision, strategy and direction for the Human Resources department in your Store, taking into account UK Business Plan priorities and the annual Store Action Plan.

    Key Tasks
    Contribute to an environment where culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.

    Actively contribute towards the development and delivery of the Human Resources Action Plan. To monitor and evaluate the success of this plan in order to guide future plans.

    To actively work with the Management Team to promote cross-functional cooperation and understanding and establish the role as the first point of contact for managers regarding people related issues.

    Provide support to managers, giving them a detailed analysis of co-worker turnover to be used to identify areas for improvement.

    Work with diversity at all levels to reflect the local market and build networks with local employment forums to attract and retain our co-workers. Achieve this through a value based recruitment process which you continually monitor and evaluate to determine its effectiveness.

    Responsible for establishing and managing an efficient recruitment process to ensure all vacancies are filled in a timely and cost effective way. Ensure that future succession is taken into account at the recruitment stage.

    Proactively support organisational change processes in the context of the cultural values having an awareness of the need to balance business priorities with managing the emotional impact of change on co-workers at all levels.

    Undertake Duty Manager responsibility on a rota basis with your other management colleagues and to carry out any other reasonable request asked by the management team.

    Focus on the co-worker by ensuring that communication is treated as a priority by the business partners. To be the initial contact for individual specific employee relations enquiries.

    Recognise and build key relationships with other departments nationally and with the local community.

    Ensure the proper application and implementation of HR policies and procedures, and compliance with legislation and regulations. Liaise with the Employee Relations Advisor and external organisations on business related issues e.g. Employment Tribunals.
    Ensure all HR administrative systems are accurate, efficient and compliant with UK audit procedures and the Data Protection Act.

    Coach your team to ensure it is working in an efficient, lean and simple way in order to maximise the efficiency of the department. Effectively inspire your team, with particular reference to their selection, training and development in order to ensure you have a competent and well informed team; having in place a workable and realistic succession plan.

    Ensure a safe working environment for fellow co-workers, customer, visitors and carriers in line with the HASAW Act, Group Risk Manual and our Health & Safety policy. Create a Safety First Culture within the HR team, where co-workers are encouraged to raise and discuss concerns and solutions. Ensure all the HR team are regularly trained in Health and Safety to an appropriate level for the role and responsibilities.

    Key Capabilities and Requirements
    Is always mindful of the co-worker with a Hands On approach
    Is accessible and approachable by having a visible presence within the business
    Ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality
    Good presentation skills and attention to detail.
    Conflict management skills
    Knowledge of local employment demographics, economic and labour market conditions
    Familiarity with the Enterprise Recruitment System and the Predictive Index (PI)
    Facilitating, influencing, problem solving, relationship building and coaching tools and theories
    Knowledge of employment legislation
    Experience of HR Systems - CDS / KRONOS / REBUS
    Familiarity of the Customer Satisfaction Index, Administration Support Retail Audit and Security Check Audit.
    Knowledge of the HASAW Act, Group Risk Manual and Health & Safety Policies to include specifically Risk Assessment
    CIPD Preferred
