This is a full-time term time post for one year in the first instance with the possibility of an extension subject to appropriate funding being received.

You will be required to promote student involvement in all aspects of College life and act as a direct link between the College and the student body. You will organise, co-ordinate and supervise the activities of the Student Crew, Subject Representatives and TRCouncil and support the elected officers in the running of the Student Council/Union.
You will assist in the delivery of Aimhigher activities and projects and provide ongoing support to an identified cohort of students. The successful candidate will be required to provide one to one mentoring, assist in the delivery of university progression modules, liaise with local HE establishments to organise visits and plan other targeted interventions to encourage these young people to achieve their full potential and make informed choices re career pathways, courses, university or college.
You should be a recent graduate with experience/knowledge of working as a Student Ambassador or as part of Student Union.

Job purpose:
To work with an identified cohort of students at either group or one to one level to support their transition from college to university. The postholder will be expected to share their own experiences of HE, promote local and national Aimhigher activities and assist in delivering a planned and structured HE information and guidance programme linked to local universities.
Key duties & responsibilities:
To promote the aims of Aimhigher to the identified cohort and their parents/carers via local and national Aimhigher activities and other College events.
To assist in the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of all Aimhigher activities.
To assist in the collection of qualitative and quantitative data using spreadsheets and databases to produce internal and external reports.
To work with individual students to plan and set targets for managing their own learning in order to help them achieve their full potential and progress to their chosen HE course.
To encourage independent learning and develop higher level thinking skills through planned and targeted interventions in order to raise attainment and increase applications from the TRC cohort to HE and in particular to the Russell Group universities.
To help students to improve their knowledge and understanding of curriculum pathways, education and career options through research.
To help students research and identify all the different routes into HE and support with other issues eg HE finance.
To provide ongoing support through one to one mentoring, HEI visits, presentations, lectures, masterclasses etc which will allow young people to make informed choices re career pathways, type of course and institution.
To refer students to appropriate internal and external IAG providers.
To contribute to the set up and organisation of Aimhigher events with partner schools.
To participate appropriately in the college appraisal scheme;

Working with the Administration Manager Staff and Student Support, the postholder will act as a direct link between the Student Body and the College, overseeing the activities of the Student Council and Student Crew, and promoting student involvement in all aspects of College life.
Key duties & responsibilities:
Student Council
Encourage and promote student representation opportunities across the College.
Publicise and support the activities of the Student Council across the College.
Uphold the Student Council Constitution.
Assist the Student Executive members in their individual roles.
Work with Student Council to devise a plan of activities, events and projects for the year.
Work with the Student Executive, college staff and individual student groups to ensure all planned events, activities and projects are delivered/completed.
Maintain regular contact with NUS, attend conferences and arrange appropriate training in relation to student leadership, governance, NUS Extra etc.
Contribute to the set up and management of the Student Council website.
Work with College managers and the Student Council to obtain feedback from the student body and advocate on their behalf to ensure College policies, services and facilities are appropriate to meet the needs of students.
Student Crew
Promote Student Crew opportunities across the College
Work with members of Student Crew to further increase their involvement at both internal and external events and develop their role as ambassadors of the College.
Contribute to the set up and management of the Student Crew Website.
Other activities
Produce regular reports on the activities of both student Council and Student Crew.
Liaise with Rotherham Young People’s Service to organise and deliver appropriate and relevant training for both Student Council and Student Crew.
Actively seek and follow up funding opportunities to support student activities or projects and promote student involvement.
Produce a student magazine at regular intervals throughout the year.
Represent the student body on relevant College committees and groups, as and when required.
